Role Overview

HumanSignal is seeking South Africa–based AI Data Collectors to support the development of next-generation AI technologies. In this independent contractor role, you will collect high-quality image data from real-world environments in accordance with defined project guidelines. Each assignment may differ, offering variety, flexibility, and the opportunity to contribute directly to impactful AI solutions.

Key Responsibilities

As an AI Data Collector, you will:

• Capture assigned images in real-world environments while adhering strictly to project specifications

• Photograph objects, scenes, or activities across diverse settings, lighting conditions, angles, and backgrounds

• Travel locally to collect data in everyday locations such as homes, offices, stores, parks, and streets

• Follow detailed instructions to ensure accuracy, quality, and sufficient variation in collected data

• Document collection processes when required and upload data using designated tools

• Work independently, manage schedules effectively, and meet project deadlines

• Contribute to the training, evaluation, and improvement of AI systems

Candidate Profile

Successful candidates typically demonstrate the following:

• Strong attention to detail and the ability to notice subtle visual differences

• Reliability, self-motivation, and comfort working independently

• Flexibility to complete task-based assignments that vary by project

• Access to a smartphone or camera capable of producing high-quality images

• Ability to carefully follow instructions and guidelines consistently
