UCHealth is hiring for Patient Care Assistant jobs in Colorado Springs at UCHealth Memorial Hospital North. This PRN position supports basic patient care activities under the supervision of a Registered Nurse in the GI Lab North.

Job summary

Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), the Patient Care Assistant performs basic patient care activities and supports the delivery of care within the assigned unit.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform basic patient care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN, including monitoring vital signs, taking blood glucose measurements, and recording intake and output.
  • Assist patients with personal care and activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, and eating.
  • Report abnormal findings or changes in patients’ physical, mental, or emotional conditions to nursing staff.
  • Help keep patient rooms and assigned units clean, stocked, and orderly.
  • Carry out administrative and clerical duties as assigned.
  • Assist with arranging patient transfers when required.
  • Apply critical thinking and sound judgment while working with minimal supervision.
  • Work effectively in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action within the scope of the role.

Requirements

  • No formal education is required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification is required within 30 days of hire.
  • No minimum experience is required.
  • Candidates must hold BLS certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer before the start date.
  • The BLS or CPR card must remain valid through at least 60 days after hire.
