About the role

The Medical Assistant I provides both clinical and administrative support within the assigned department. Working under the supervision of a healthcare provider or nurse, the successful candidate will assist with patient care activities, maintain clinical equipment and supplies, and support daily office operations.

Key responsibilities

• Assist providers and nurses with routine patient care activities.
• Perform basic clinical procedures and specimen collection.
• Observe, monitor, and communicate changes in patient conditions.
• Accurately document patient care and clinical information.
• Maintain medical equipment and clinical supplies.
• Reorder, stock, clean, and troubleshoot equipment as needed.
• Ensure examination rooms and clinical areas remain organized and prepared.
• Support administrative functions including:

  • Data entry
  • Filing and record management
• Apply sound judgment while working independently when required.

Required qualifications

Education

• High School Diploma or GED required.

Certifications and credentials

Applicants must possess one of the following:

• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), or
• Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)

Additionally, candidates must have:

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers.

Experience

• No prior experience required.

Additional certification requirements

• BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA), or
• CPR for the Professional Rescuer certification through the American Red Cross.

Candidates must possess a valid certification card before the start date. The certification must remain valid through at least sixty days after hire.
