Job Description
UK Power Networks is looking for a Billing Analyst to join its Crawley office. This role is suited to someone with strong numeracy, good attention to detail, and the confidence to work with large sets of data.
The Billing Analyst will support invoice preparation, payment allocation, outstanding balance management, standing data updates, and billing queries. The role also involves working across two billing engines during the Market-wide Half-Hourly Settlement transition.
The successful candidate will deal with internal teams, senior management, electricity suppliers, and Independent Distribution Network Operators. Clear communication, accuracy, and a steady approach to problem-solving are important for this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, raise, and issue invoices to electricity suppliers and Independent Distribution Network Operators
- Make sure invoice data and supporting information are accurate and complete
- Allocate bank payments promptly and correctly
- Identify invoices being paid and allocate cross-company payments
- Chase outstanding balances
- Apply and manage penalties for non-payment where required
- Maintain and update standing data with strong attention to detail
- Keep billing data aligned with industry systems
- Analyse large datasets to support billing queries
- Help resolve disputes and investigate data issues
- Work across two billing engines during the Market-wide Half-Hourly Settlement transition
- Support accuracy and consistency in a dual-system environment
- Assess and resolve standing-data queries linked to MHHS
- Manage billing-related relationships with 220 electricity suppliers and IDNOs
- Act as a main contact for billing matters
- Work with senior management by providing useful information and insight
- Collaborate with Pricing and Contract Management teams
- Support accurate account set-up
- Take part in system testing for industry-led change and user-driven improvements
- Work with system vendors and developers to identify and resolve system issues
- Support system improvements and required enhancements
Required Skills and Qualifications
Applicants should have:
- Five GCSEs, grades A–C or 9–4, or equivalent
- English and Mathematics included in the GCSE requirement
- Strong numeracy skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to work accurately with large datasets
- Clear written communication skills
- Clear verbal communication skills
- Confidence presenting information to partners and stakeholders
Experience in a commercial or financial environment is an advantage, but it is not essential.

Salary and Benefits
