Job Description

PK Education is recruiting a dedicated Safeguarding Officer to join a supportive Secondary/SEND setting in Wakefield.

The role involves working closely with school staff, parents, carers, and external agencies to provide effective safeguarding support. The successful candidate will help manage safeguarding concerns, support attendance monitoring, and contribute to intervention plans where needed.

This position is ideal for a compassionate and proactive person who understands the importance of safeguarding, accurate record keeping, and strong communication in an education setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the school’s safeguarding and child protection procedures
• Monitor, record, and manage safeguarding concerns correctly
• Work with vulnerable students and their families
• Provide guidance and support where needed
• Support attendance monitoring
• Help implement intervention strategies when required
• Maintain accurate safeguarding records using CPOMS
• Liaise with external agencies
• Contribute to multi-agency meetings
• Promote a safe and supportive learning environment for all students

Required Skills and Experience

• Previous safeguarding and child protection experience
• DSL or DDSL experience is desirable
• Knowledge and experience of using CPOMS
• Experience monitoring student attendance
• Experience supporting improvements in student attendance
• Confidence working with external agencies and professionals
• Excellent communication skills
• Strong organisational skills
• Good record-keeping skills
• Genuine commitment to supporting vulnerable children and families
