Subsurface Data Analyst – Port Harcourt, Rivers
Vagan Oil & Gas Limited is a Nigerian private limited liability company duly registered under the Companies Acts of 1990. Operating in line with Nigerian service provision policies, the company delivers a wide range of technical services including engineering solutions, pipeline and flowline construction and repairs, facility piping and maintenance, wellhead and Christmas tree servicing, composite wrap technology, as well as equipment and offshore/marine supplies.
The company is currently seeking qualified candidates to fill the role outlined below.
Job Overview
The Subsurface Data Analyst will provide technical data management, analytics, and workflow support across subsurface, wells, and exploration activities. The role supports venture development, hydrocarbon forecasting, data quality improvement initiatives, and enterprise data and document management systems.
Roles and Responsibilities

Provide support to Venture Development Management (VDM) processes, Hydrocarbon Forecasting and Result Workbench (HFRW), and ARPR activities across development, exploration, and wells.

Implement and support HFRW, PERT, and AIMS applications, including advanced data analytics, predictive analysis, and automated decline curve analysis.

Deliver key business improvement and workflow optimization projects.

Gather, validate, and load wells, geology, geophysics, and geolab data into approved local and corporate databases such as CDS, RECALL, EDM, and PETROBANK MDS.

Support data quality improvement initiatives and resolve subsurface data quality issues, including Emergency Response Organization Portal data compliance.

Provide onsite Technical Data Management (TDM) support for geological, geophysical, petrophysical, and reservoir engineering datasets.

Deliver and embed document and records management services, ensuring document quality across SIRUS, File Plan systems, and SharePoint workspaces.

Support data and document management activities by ensuring industry-standard data formats and compliance with corporate data management policies (EP 16).

Execute basic technical data analysis across upstream disciplines, including subsurface, wells engineering, production engineering, and geophysics.

Manage corporate and project data, including retrieval and upload of raw and interpreted geophysical, geological, seismic, wells, reservoir, and production data.

Organize, retrieve, and publish critical business documents within enterprise document repositories.

Provide high-performance workflow and application support to Exploration and Geophysics teams on deepwater projects.

Support workflow improvement initiatives, trainings, webinars, application performance monitoring, and coordination with IT service providers.

Deliver specialist user support and formal or informal training on Petrel, EDM, and other Subsurface & Wells (SSW) applications.

Provide first-line and second-line support for geomatics, wells engineering, geology, and geological applications.

Manage deployment and support of technical computing infrastructure, including servers, workstations, storage devices, and plotters, as well as installation of third-party software.

Provide Subsurface and Wells (SSW) helpdesk support.

Support facilities and infrastructure services, including Virtual Reality Centres.
Academic Qualifications
-
B.Sc., B.Eng., or HND in Geology, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
Experience
-
Minimum of five (5) years’ relevant experience for B.Sc. holders or seven (7) years for HND holders.

At least three (3) years of experience must be within a subsurface data management discipline such as PP, RE, PT, or PG.
