Phone Collection Officer – Lagos

We are seeking a performance-driven Phone Collection Officer to support debt recovery operations through structured and professional telephone engagement. This role requires strong communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to negotiate payment resolutions while maintaining compliance with established policies and regulations.

Job Summary

The Phone Collection Officer will be responsible for managing overdue accounts through outbound calls, negotiating repayment plans, and ensuring timely recovery of outstanding balances. The position demands a firm yet professional approach to customer engagement, accurate record-keeping, and consistent achievement of collection targets.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct outbound telephone calls to debtors to negotiate repayment plans, settlements, and payment commitments.

• Accurately document all customer interactions, agreements, and follow-up actions within approved systems.

• Achieve daily and monthly collection targets aimed at reducing overdue accounts.

• Address customer inquiries and disputes relating to billing issues or outstanding balances in a professional manner.

• Identify accounts requiring escalation and refer cases for further legal or administrative action when necessary.

• Ensure all collection activities adhere strictly to company policies and applicable debt collection laws and regulations.

Requirements

• Minimum of one (1) to three (3) years’ experience in debt collection, telemarketing, or customer service roles.

• Excellent verbal communication and negotiation capabilities.

• Ability to remain composed and professional when managing difficult or confrontational discussions.

• Strong attention to detail with proficiency in CRM tools or database management systems.

• Demonstrated ability to meet performance targets in a fast-paced work environment.

• Good understanding of financial ethics and debt collection regulations.

Basic salary of ₦80,000 plus KPI incentive of ₦50,000.
