Job Summary
The Head, Liquidity Management will be responsible for overseeing Flutterwave’s operational liquidity position across all payment flows. This role ensures the timely funding, settlement, and execution of customer and partner payments across multiple currencies and jurisdictions.
The position is accountable for daily liquidity forecasting, payment approvals, and the management of banking and partner relationships, while maintaining strong internal controls, regulatory compliance, and operational resilience to support business growth and market expansion.
Liquidity and Cash Management Responsibilities

Monitor and manage daily liquidity positions across all accounts, currencies, and payment corridors.

Forecast short-, medium-, and long-term liquidity needs to support acquiring, settlement, and cross-border payment activities.

Ensure adequate prefunding of accounts to meet settlement obligations with card schemes, processors, banks, and partners.

Optimize overall cash positioning to reduce funding costs while maintaining appropriate operational buffers.
Payments Execution and Control Responsibilities

Oversee the initiation, review, and approval of outgoing payments in accordance with internal approval matrices and control frameworks.

Ensure accurate and timely settlement of customer funds, merchant payouts, and partner obligations.

Maintain effective segregation of duties and ensure adherence to internal policies and regulatory requirements.

Support internal and external audits by providing reconciliations, documentation, and evidence of control effectiveness.
Reconciliation and Exception Management

Ensure daily reconciliation of balances across internal systems, bank accounts, and partner platforms.

Investigate and resolve reconciliation breaks, settlement delays, and failed payments in a timely manner.

Collaborate with Finance, Risk, and Engineering teams to enhance reconciliation automation and accuracy.
Banking and Partner Management

Manage operational relationships with banks, liquidity providers, and strategic partners.

Support the onboarding of new bank accounts, payment corridors, currencies, and partners.

Coordinate partner communications relating to funding requirements, payout schedules, and service-level agreements.
Process Improvement and Scalability

Document liquidity management procedures, payment workflows, and escalation processes.

Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce manual intervention, and strengthen controls as the business scales.

Support new product launches and market expansion initiatives from a liquidity and settlement readiness perspective.
Stakeholder Collaboration and Reporting

Work closely with Finance, Compliance, Risk, Product, and Engineering teams to ensure alignment across payment operations.

Provide senior management with clear reporting and insights on liquidity risk exposure, operational performance, and settlement efficiency.
Required Competencies and Skill Set

Bachelor’s degree with 7–9 years of experience in Treasury, Liquidity Operations, or Financial Operations within fintech, payments, or banking environments.

Strong understanding of acquiring processes, settlement cycles, cross-border payments, and multi-currency cash management.

Practical experience managing payment approvals, banking platforms, and operational control frameworks.

Strong analytical, reconciliation, and problem-solving capabilities.

Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, regulated environment.
