Job Description

The Accountant serves as the custodian of Bridgemead’s financial integrity. This position extends beyond bookkeeping and statutory compliance to provide structured financial oversight, operational discipline, and data-driven insights that strengthen decision-making at leadership level.

The role holds responsibility for the accuracy of financial records, project accounting, cash flow management, regulatory compliance, and profitability monitoring. By supervising variable revenue streams and implementing effective financial controls, the Accountant safeguards financial stability and supports sustainable growth.


Key responsibilities

Project accounting and revenue recognition

  • Monitor project contracts and initiate milestone-based invoicing immediately upon completion of deliverables

  • Track Work-in-Progress (WIP), comparing actual hours against budgeted hours to detect scope creep and margin erosion

  • Ensure accurate revenue recognition in accordance with IFRS and service-based accounting standards

Financial intelligence and performance analysis

  • Prepare 6–12 month cash flow forecasts and monthly financial runway projections

  • Conduct burn rate analysis, highlighting fixed costs, variable costs, and sustainability thresholds

  • Analyse profitability by service line, client, and engagement after overhead allocation

Risk, tax and regulatory compliance

  • Serve as the primary liaison for VAT, PAYE, WHT, and Corporate Income Tax filings

  • Coordinate audit preparation, including schedules and supporting documentation

  • Identify financial and compliance risks and recommend appropriate mitigation measures

Payroll and internal controls

  • Manage payroll processing, statutory deductions, and performance-based bonus administration

  • Maintain strong internal financial controls and approval processes to protect firm assets


Qualifications and experience

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline (required)

  • Professional certification such as ICAN, ACCA, CPA, or equivalent (preferred)

  • Advanced training in IFRS, financial management, or corporate finance (advantageous)

  • Ongoing professional development in tax law, compliance, or accounting technology (desirable)

Professional experience

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in accounting, finance, or bookkeeping roles, preferably within professional services, consulting, or project-based environments

  • Demonstrated experience in project accounting, revenue recognition, and Work-in-Progress (WIP) management across multiple client engagements

  • Experience in budgeting, cash flow forecasting, and financial planning to support management decisions

  • Exposure to VAT, PAYE, corporate tax compliance, and audit coordination

  • Experience in financial reporting for service-based businesses, including profitability analysis by client, project, and service line

  • Experience administering payroll, statutory deductions, and bonuses

  • Experience liaising with auditors, tax authorities, banks, and regulatory institutions


Technical and functional skills

  • Advanced proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or ERP platforms)

  • Expert-level Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, dashboards, financial modelling, and reporting automation

  • Strong knowledge of IFRS standards and their application within service-based firms

  • Competence in financial analysis, variance analysis, and KPI tracking

  • Understanding of internal control frameworks and financial risk mitigation
